Our History
Gladys R. Silveira founded Silveira Kindergarten and Nursery School and
celebrated her first graduation in June 1957. "Fun With Learning,"
combined with a commitment to provide young children a
secure, nurturing and structured environment, was her found-
ing
principle.
In 1997, Theresa Silveira Spengler accepted a full-time Co-Directorship
and joined Mrs. Silveira as a team teacher.
In 1999, Mrs. Spengler
became Director and Owner of Silveira Kindergarten and Nursery
School.
Our Curriculum
The Department of Education, Early Childhood Division of the State of
Rhode Island, annually reviews and approves the school's
full curriculum. In addition
to reading and mathematics readiness
skills, our curriculum includes
art, music, creative dramatics, poetry, and field trips. Free
and structured play,
both indoor and outdoor, round out the
curriculum.
Our Dedicated, Caring Staff
Our dedicated staff members are com-
mitted to our students, which is the key to our success.
All of the Silveira teachers are well-trained and uphold
the highest standards in education, respect, and the
love of children. Our diverse staff is highly skilled in
understanding the needs of children and how to have
"Fun
With Learning."
Open Door Policy
We have an open door policy. Since 1957, we welcome and encourage
parents to participate in their child's school experience.
This philosophy fosters trust and communication, both
in
school and their home.
